Introducing... The 605 Principal!

Strong schools are built on strong connections—and strong connections are built through meaningful communication.

As we have reflected on the role of editor for SDAESP, one question continued to surface: How can we increase meaningful communication and content for our members while keeping it manageable and not overwhelming?

After thoughtful conversation and a shared desire to strengthen connection across our state, we are excited to begin a trial run of shared editor responsibilities. Together, we (Tasha Gatzemeyer & Kim Aman) look forward to collaborating in ways that expand content, highlight the incredible work happening across South Dakota, and strengthen connections among elementary principals statewide.

With this in mind, we are launching The 605 Principal, a monthly newsletter designed to inform, connect, and celebrate. The newsletter will be shared via social media and distributed through Area Representatives to ensure it reaches members across the state.

In addition, one of the initiatives we are most excited about is a rotating Area Spotlight. Each month, we will feature one of our six Areas to celebrate leadership, innovation, and the unique strengths within that region. We are intentionally beginning with an Area near and dear to our hearts- Area 3-

which also provides an opportunity to establish a strong framework we can refine as we rotate through the remaining Areas.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve in this role and look forward to learning, adjusting, and growing alongside you. Our hope is that The 605 Principal, along with our additional content, becomes a meaningful space that informs, connects, and celebrates the work you lead every day.

Be sure and check out March's issue here.
