Tip Tuesday: Promoting Positive Self-Talk

Writer: Tasha GatzemeyerTasha Gatzemeyer

In the world of education, we play a critical role in nurturing positive self-talk among our students. This practice not only bolsters their emotional well-being but also boosts self-esteem and aids in emotional regulation. One simple yet effective method to do this is by placing encouraging signage in high-traffic areas. At our school we have used mirrors to empower our students to recognize their own positive attributes. This suggestion is not only budget friendly (our long mirror was a mere $7 from Walmart, and the signs were $6.50 from Teachers Pay Teachers) but also straightforward, making it an ideal strategy to foster healthy self-talk.
